Please submit your entries here.

Entries will be accepted until midnight (PST) October 20th, 2009, when the contest ends.

EDIT1: Remember that your first picture of the base can't have a miniature on it, the scond picture MUST have one on it (or by it) to represent scale. Base sizes can be up to 60mm and can be bought or hand made. You must have a minimum of two pictures of the base.

EDIT2: Please do not use this thread to discuss anything about the contest, use the BBO forum instead. This keeps only the entries visible, which makes the judging much easier. Thank you.

Alright First entry for the new base build-off
OK I finally managed to get some free time in between babysitting and playing PS 3 and finish some bases. These are pretty simple. I started by making casts of my custom base inserts and then smashed them up a bit to make them look like an ancient ruin. As always my leaves were provided by Skullcrafts. I wanted a dark feel to the base so I went with dark cold grays mixed with some blue. I hope you like them.

Minature for scale

Hi!
I'd like to show you my leatest base. Everything takes place somewhere in the middle of the jungle. There are some old, metal, rusted buildings. Now nowbody is using them, but look - there is fresh blood on the ground. Somebody fights there. But who has done it? Who is so cruel?

It's my Snikrot. You can see him on my second photo  I want it

Grot is just a part of the base. In fact he is an element of the scene. He's a little friend of Snikrot. He just collects equipement and weapons that Snikrot's opponents lost in the battle Muhaha

And a worse quality photo with my miniature. Just to represent the scale of the base.

A swamp base inspired by the Dead Marshes scenes from Lord of the Rings...

... and with a Samwise Gamgee miniature for scale.

Someone over at the Hirst forum suggested adding a dragonfly, so here he is ...

This base was created using Hirst blocks and sculpey modeling clay. I then painted and based it. I purchased a single claw from a hobby store and molded it to get the claws.

The idea behind this base was to convey the point that a large creature was standing just above the ledge and the character would be hiding below, just under the creatures claws. I tried to find a figure that had it's back up against a wall and looking scared but had no luck locating one. I hope the badly painted ranger at least puts the scenario in perspective.

Sorry for my poor camera skills. I am still trying to learn my new camera.

Here is my entry. I won't finish the mini in time, so one is next to it for reference(it's a 50mm). I went for a rusted out piece of nuclear scrap left behind and long forgotten, but its hazardous effects will remain forever!

Last minute entry - it's simple but fun.

Lighting is bad, but hey it's my painting desk, not a photo studio.  :P

EDIT: Pictures color-balanced

The votes are now officially in. First place goes to PeteRock. Congratulations for an outstanding base!

Second place belongs to Spie. Well done, very creative!

To the rest of you basing gurus this time around, holy snikey! I am literally speechless as to what to say about the efforts, imagination and creativity. I am blown away.
